18-Aug-19   Charlie Mann   Sid Hoodie   Sid Hoodie would have an each-way chance. There's always plenty of runners in these low-grade handicap chases but I'd like to think she's better than 103, so I'm hopeful of a good run.   Was placed 3rd at 7/1
grey line
18-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Royal Village   Royal Village ran a blinder when runner-up in the valuable Summer Plate at Market Rasen last month and remains on the same mark. He stays further than today's trip but with Lil Rockerfeller in the field, the gallop is likely to be strong. Great chance of going one better.   Won the race at 11/4
grey line
16-Aug-19   Hughie Morrison   Not So Sleepy   Not So Sleepy has never been the easiest to win with, but as he showed when fourth in a valuable handicap at Newmarket last time on unsuitably fast ground he is capable of high-class form on his day. The going will be in his favour today and a repetition of the Newmarket run will give him an obvious chance in another worthwhile prize.   Was placed 2nd at 4/1
grey line
16-Aug-19   Brian Meehan   Sound Of Cannons   We had a long-priced first-time-out winner here last Friday night in Cepheus and I would not be surprised if Sound of Cannons followed his example. A lovely colt by Nathaniel - who just got outpointed by Frankel in this race when they made their debuts back in 2010 - if he doesn't win now I'm sure he will next time.   Won the race at 5/1
grey line
16-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Humble Gratitude   Humble Gratitude did well to win at Chester considering the track to my mind is possibly not ideal and Newmarket may well suit him better. Young Cieren Fallon's 5lb claim neatly offsets the 5lb penalty incurred at Chester and he goes there tonight with a decent chance.   Won the race at 5/1
grey line
15-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Heatherdown   Heatherdown is another who has flattered to deceive on more than one occasion and now drops back in distance which may help. He has been difficult but is capable and P J McDonald is a plus.   Was placed 2nd at 7/2
grey line
15-Aug-19   William Knight   Jacob Cats   Jacobs Cats ran his best race for a long time over this course and distance last month when only beaten on the nod with the remainder well behind. As long as he can avoid the very slow starts he is prone to, the veteran should have a good each-way chance in this company.   Won the race at 12/1
grey line
14-Aug-19   Charlie Longsdon   The Vollan   The Vollan has been crying out for this step up in trip. He's been running very well but in his last two had to be content with second place, outspeeded by a couple of formerly decent Flat racers. We're hopeful that this could be his day.   Was placed 2nd at 7/2
grey line
14-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Gossip Column   Gossip Column has been running well, just denied at Chester and earlier in the summer he was a good winner over a mile and a half at York. This testing ten furlongs should not inconvenience him, but 10st top weight will not be easily carried especially with a couple of those annoying three-year-olds lurking lower down the weights.   Won the race at 11/2
grey line
14-Aug-19   Shaun Keightley   Image Of The Moon   Image of the Moon wears her heart on her sleeve so she has no secrets from the handicapper. She disappointed last time at Sandown but has some good form around here and it's unfortunate she isn't better drawn. We're taking 5lb off and that should help her be competitive. Each-way chances.   Won the race at 14/1
grey line
14-Aug-19   Charlie Longsdon   Dariya   Dariya was denied a run because of an abandonment last time. She will be better suited by today's galloping track than the tight turns of Cartmel. She has an each-way chance.   Won the race at 12/1
grey line
13-Aug-19   Administrators NAP   NAP - Darksideoftarnside   Testing ground and the galloping Ffos Las circuit should bring out the best in Ian Williams' Darksideoftarnside. He ran well in a decent Sandown handicap last time when the going was faster than ideal and he can get back to the sort of form that brought soft-ground wins at Pontefract and Ayr in the past.   Won the race at 6/1
grey line
13-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Darksideoftarnside   Darksideoftarnside ran quite well in a competitive race at Sandown last time and now gets the chance to race on an easier surface which suits him so well. The galloping track will be in his favour as will be any further rain that falls on Ffos Las. Great chance.   Won the race at 6/1
grey line
13-Aug-19   Hughie Morrison   Requited   Although Requited ran into his first place of the year when third at Nottingham last time, I was disappointed as it looked a decent opportunity. He has form on all-weather and drops into lower grade here but you cannot have a great deal of confidence in him nowadays.   Won the race at 3/1
grey line
12-Aug-19   Hughie Morrison   Say Nothing   You can't say that the handicapper has been over-generous with Say Nothing's mark so she is above the standard for this 0-70 handicap, only qualifying, like the top-weight, under the relatively new rule which lets in horses up to 2lb higher and only when it's not a full field. She should run her race and with a good gallop expected, could make it into a place.   Was placed 2nd at 7/2
grey line
10-Aug-19   Shaun Keightley   San Carlos   San Carlos has had a little break since his last run at six furlongs which proved inadequate and he also seemed to find the mile stretching him the time before. His two wins were gained over this course and distance and with a good draw and being fresh and well, we are hopeful he can regain winning brackets.   Was placed 3rd at 9/2
grey line
10-Aug-19   Administrators NB   NB - Sir Busker   It seems to be all about the ground for Sir Busker who is better in the soft than under any other conditions on turf or all-weather. He has his ground today and is fancied to bounce back to form for the William Knight stable.   Was placed 2nd at 7/1
grey line
10-Aug-19   William Knight   Sir Busker   Things never went right at any stage for Sir Busker in his last run at Epsom when like the previous time there when he finished a decent second, the ground was faster than ideal. Previously on a softer surface at Goodwood he produced a flying finish to overcome a difficult trip and he'll love today's testing ground. Great chance and excellent value at the price.   Was placed 2nd at 7/1
grey line
10-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Cardano   Cardano is a lovely horse in the making. He was third at Newmarket the other day, but the form of that race isn't working out as well as I thought it might. This is competitive but I do like this horse and he is improving.   Was placed 2nd at 4/1
grey line
10-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Mandarin   Mandarin's rider Filip Minarik is something of a veteran at 44 and has a good record in Germany where he rode a Group 3 winner last week. Mandarin has been progressive in his last two races and certainly the step up to this trip of a mile and a half seemed to suit him at Newmarket last time. Up 6lb for that, it will consequently be a little tougher but as ever I'm delighted to be avoiding those improving three-year-olds - there is none in this race.   Was placed 2nd at 7/2
grey line
09-Aug-19   Brian Meehan   Cepheus   Cepheus is a lovely colt by Sea The Stars, a stallion we like very much. He might well need the experience as ours often do, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ran into a place.   Won the race at 25/1
grey line
09-Aug-19   Administrators NAP   NAP - Trouble Shooter   Once the Sir Mark Prescott three-year-olds hit form, when the money is down it is rarely left behind. Mon Frere was another favourite of his to win last time out, but if Trouble Shooter had been able to start his finishing run a little earlier, a different outcome would have been likely. This could be his big chance today.   Was placed 0th at 4/1
grey line
09-Aug-19   Shaun Keightley   Trouble Shooter   Trouble Shooter won on his only recent run on turf with a battling effort at Yarmouth in June but possibly put up a best-ever performance when runner-up to a Prescott hotpot at Chelmsford last time. He was caught in traffic at a crucial stage but finished very well into a clear second. A repetition of that form should be good enough in this modest company.   Was placed 0th at 4/1
grey line
07-Aug-19   Shaun Keightley   Bollihope   Bollihope was in good form early in the year on the all-weather, but has since had a number of minor issues. He has done plenty of work but could be a little ring-rusty and is sure to improve for the run.   Was placed 3rd at 7/1
grey line
07-Aug-19   Administrators NB   NB - Speed Company   It's only recently that we've become aware of Fast Company horses' liking for soft ground. Speed Company shares that tendency and also goes well on tracks with a stiff finish. He gets both requirements here and will be hard to keep out of the reckoning.   Was placed 2nd at 5/1
grey line
07-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Speed Company   Speed Company will need to find some improvement on recent form to win this competitive affair. He has been crying out for easier ground, typically for Fast Company horses, so that is in his favour. This is his first run at Pontefract, but he does well on stiff tracks so that should be another positive.   Was placed 2nd at 5/1
grey line
07-Aug-19   Hughie Morrison   Indian Viceroy   Indian Viceroy had a good two-year-old season but it could be he hasn't trained on as, especially the last time, his form has deteriorated. Cheekpieces are fitted for the first time to try to rekindle his interest.   Was placed 2nd at 11/1
grey line
07-Aug-19   Micky Hammond   The Rutland Rebel   We think The Rutland Rebel is the better of the stable's two runners in this amateurs' race, but he concedes lumps of weight which will bring the pair closer together. He will not lose out from the saddle, either, with Patrick Millman riding, while the step up in trip will suit.   Won the race at 10/1
grey line
06-Aug-19   Hughie Morrison   Mr Poy   We like Mr Poy, who is from a staying family we know quite well. It's unfortunate that we've drawn the stronger division and realistically like most of ours he will probably get tired in the closing stages. Saying that, he does go nicely.   Was placed 2nd at 20/1
grey line
05-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Mokaatil   Mokaatil is probably going back to the well once too often but he hasn't run badly in the last two races within the past six days. He should be seen to good effect at Windsor and has a decent chance of making amends, but going back for a third time can bring an element of doubt.   Was placed 2nd at 7/1
grey line
05-Aug-19   Administrators NAP   NAP - Stormin Norman   Stormin Norman, a previous winner of a bumper, came with a strong run to win his first Flat handicap over 12f at Ripon. Only 3lb higher for that, he looks poised for a follow up and rates excellent nap material.   Won the race at 9/2
grey line
05-Aug-19   Micky Hammond   Stormin Norman   Stormin Norman surprised us a little at Ripon when winning over a mile and a half and should really come into his own over this extended trip. Also, today’s rider was on board when he won his bumper in the spring. We think we may still be ahead of the handicapper and expect him to be there at the finish.   Won the race at 9/2
grey line
05-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Matewan   Matewan wouldn't want the ground to be tacky but like War Brigade will be well served by having no interaction with three-year-olds, which is always tough. Will enjoy the trip and should go well in a competitive race.   Won the race at 9/4
grey line
04-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Gossip Column   Gossip Column won this race last year and finds himself off top weight again. Richard Kingscote rides very well around Chester and if they were fortunate enough to get away and make the running that would be ideal. Otherwise he can take a position close up and I'm sure he will be suited by conditions and the track. Good chance of the repeat.   Was placed 2nd at 4/1
grey line
04-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Heart Of Soul   Heart of Soul has been disappointing this time round, not showing anything like the form of last year. Again he is not particularly well drawn and will need to get away sharpish to have any chance in this.   Was placed 2nd at 7/1
grey line
04-Aug-19   Micky Hammond   Rory And Me   Rory And Me was a course and distance winner on debut in May and then ran well in defeat last time under a penalty at Southwell. He put in a pleasing gallop in midweek and with luck can return to winning form.   Won the race at 6-4
grey line
04-Aug-19   Administrators NB   NB - Rory and Me   It is never easy for a bumper winner to carry his penalty to success as Rory and Me's connections found at Southwell after a debut win on this course. This race looks less competitive and he is a confident choice to regain the winning thread.   Won the race at 6-4
grey line
04-Aug-19   Ian Williams   Humble Gratitude   Humble Gratitude has done rather less well this season than I was expecting but he still has plenty of time to put that right. He's not particularly well drawn in nine so I wouldn't want to see him get behind early as that would be tough. If he is fortunate enough to get away and into a box-seat position he could go well.   Won the race at 12/1
grey line
03-Aug-19   William Knight   Shifting Gold   Shifting Gold got up in the last stride over the extended mile at Nottingham after which David Egan suggested we should step her up in trip. Tonight will show whether his advice was correct. I believe it almost certainly is!   Was placed 2nd at 100/30
grey line
03-Aug-19   Shaun Keightley   Trouble Shooter   Trouble Shooter was stuck in the middle of the field at Wolverhampton last time, disappointing after his good win in the mud at Yarmouth. He has quite a wide draw, as he had when running on well in his previous visit here, and if all goes well he could make the frame once more.   Was placed 2nd at 6/1
